This is not like our original Sewing Club, but rather a recorded presentation of sewing/embroidery applications taught by
the BERNINA professionals. This is an opportunity for EVERYONE to really learn to use all those great feet and new
techniques as well regardless of what brand of machine you own.

Learn gathering techniques and choose the proper stabilizers.

Review the basics of quilting in the hoop and choosing the right needles and threads.

We will embroider head to toe as we discuss techniques for embroidering caps and slippers. We will focus on placement and on how to get a
design exactly where you want it to be.

We will make a cover for a notebook/e-reader that features some unique flap closures and some special embroidery
 techniques to personalize your project.


Needles, Threads & Stabilizers

For all new owners of our embroidery machines –   BROTHER,  BERNINA and VIKING 

We will discuss the many types of stabilizers, how to choose the best stabilizer for a particular type of fabric, the differences in fabrics and the stabilizers required,
 and how the embroidery design will affect your choice of stabilizers.  Get hooping  techniques  for different projects and how to determine which hoop to use; the many threads available, and how they differ;  the different sizes and styles in needles and when they are used.  We will also share numerous helpful embroidery tips.

Beginning Embroidery With Brother

Get started with basic embroidery, learning the features of your machine,
using built-in designs and cards.  BRING YOUR MACHINE AND ACCESSORIES. 
 BRING ITEMS BELOW ON THE SUPPLY LIST FOR EMBROIDERY CLASSES. 
3 HOUR CLASSES.

Bring your machine with electrical cord, embroidery module, all hoops and grids, water soluble
marker, 12 – 15’ ruler (clear), 1 empty bobbin, bobbin thread and 1 bobbin filled, several thread colors 
(no Coats and Clark thread, please), tear away and Solvy stabilizers.   We will furnish fabric.

Learn the many features of your machine for sewing – adjusting stitches, sewing hems, buttonholes, seam finishes, and
decorative work. Discover the fun in your machine! Bring machine, FOOT CONTROL AND CORD,
and all accessories that pertain to sewing and small scissors. We furnish thread and fabric. Three hour class.

Sewing on your BERNINA Machine
Become acquainted with your new BERNINA. Learn about the stitches, how they are used, which feet to use when, what the
functions of the machine are, how you can use them with more ease – and have more fun sewing. Also, we’ll teach cleaning and
maintenance. Supplies: Bring your machine, everything that came with it (accessories, FOOT CONTROL AND CORD, owner’s
manual, free arm extension, etc.) and small scissors to class. We will provide thread and fabric. Three hour class.

BERNINA 830 Sewing and Embroidery

meeting for a bag which you will make.

Advanced 830–Ode to Ireland Table Runner, create an elegant table runner using endless embroidery, quilting-in-the-hoop
embroidery techniques and BSR free motion quilting.

BERNINA Embroidery Software v.6
          

Learn how to save designs, resize, edit, monogram, change a monogram into an appliqué and much more. We will teach
from the software book which can be purchased at our shop.  It is a well written book and easy to understand. If you have
previously taken the class, you are invited to retake it using the book. This method is used widely by BERNINA dealers who
have found it successful.

Serger Guide Classes
For new  sergers purchased in our store ONLY.

Learn to use your serger, thread it, adjust tensions, differential feed, plus tips and tricks for serging. Bring your serger,
all accessories, foot control, owner’s manual, scissors, four spools of good quality serger thread in white or a
pastel color.  Three hour class.

   When: Fri April 20th at 10am and Thu May 24th at 5:30pm

Beginning/ Intermediate Sewing Classes

Learn the fundamentals of good sewing habits while constructing two projects. For those new to sewing as well as those who wish to
brush up and improve their skill level. Bring your own machine to class so you are learning more about your machine as well
as sewing skills.

Paper Piecing: Piece by Numbers

Amazed by quilt blocks with sharp points and intricate pieces? The secret is paper
piecing. Learn this piece-by-numbers technique by making a table topper. If you can count
 and follow the lines, you can paper piece!

Beginning Quilting Class: Churn Dash

This class will teach you the basics of quilt making by constructing a lap quilt using the sewing machine. The Churn Dash block is a traditional
pattern that will be made into a quilt approximately 44” x 44” square. Students will complete the quilt in class with some homework.

Quilt in a Hoop Pillow

This class is from a pattern by Hoop Sisters. Each student will purchase a pattern and make a pillow which is one square of the quilt in the pattern.
You will be able to make a whole quilt after learning the techniques in the pillow. The design is Storm By The Sea which is beautiful. You
must have an embroidery machine and you can make a 5 or 8 inch block. We will add sashing to make a nice 16 inch pillow.

 BE SURE

To save your thread tails, and small bits of fabric.  Scatter them about in your yard and on shrubbery for the birds to find and use for making their nests.  They will reward you with chirping baby birds.

Please register for all classes as soon as possible, since many classes will fill  very quickly.  Because of limited space, all new owner classes are provided only for those customers who have purchased their machines software, or serger from us.  Classes are limited to only 1 participant per machine, serger, etc.  For classes with supply list, register, get supply list, and let us know immediately  of any items you need, so we can have time to order if necessary.  For classes with fees, reservations are not held until the fee is paid in full.  Refunds for class fee if notified 7 days or more before class date.  NO CHILDREN, PLEASE – ANY CLASSES.
